Facts About Warren County:

Warren County came into existence in 1825 when it was officially separated from Sussex County. The county was named after Revolutionary War hero Dr. Joseph Warren.

The county seat is Belvidere - a Norman Rockwell-esque town consisting of a small main street of cozy shops situated on the Delaware and colonial and Victorian homes.

Warren County includes 22 municipalities: Phillipsburg, Pohatcong, Lopatcong, Oxford, Harmony, Blairstown, Hope, White Township, Belvidere, Washington Boro, Washington Township, Greenwich, Mansfield, Knowlton, Liberty, Independence, Hardwick, Franklin, Alpha, Alamuchy, Hackettstown, and Frelinguysen.

The area was originally inhabited by the Lenni Lenape Indians, hence the Native American influenced names such as Lopatcong which is roughly translated from a phrase that means "Winter water place for deer."
